Community Support - Past & Present

The Golconda Public Library has been at the Main Street location since 1951 but was actually started in the early 1900s. From those early days to now, it has been an important part of our wonderful community. The building, the location, the books/materials, and most importantly the people in the community have all worked together to make it a "welcoming place where friends and neighbors come to learn, discover, and connect." From the beginning (History), the people in our community have worked together to build and to support their library. The early visionaries, women's clubs, and generous donors all helped build and support this library since its inception.

Below are some ideas of how you can help.

Silent Auction

The Silent Auction raises funds and FUN!

​

  • Donate an item, bid on an item, or do both!

  • Tell your friends and family about the auction.

  • Share the library's Facebook postings with your Facebook friends. 

​

Bidding starts the week before Thanksgiving and ends the second Saturday in December at noon. 

Make a memorial donation (book or monetary) in remembrance of a friend or family member.

 

  • Our librarians will help you select a book if you do not have one already selected.

  • The family will receive a card from the library letting them know that you honored them with a donation.

  • Your name, person honored, type (book or monetary) will be added to the records of the library.

  • The library will provide a receipt to you for tax purposes.
